"THE CLOSING OF THE DAY"

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - PROFOUND & LIFE AFFIRMING

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - A POIGNANT TALE OF QUIET, UNSHAKABLE DEVOTION

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - A POIGNANT TALE OF QUIET, UNSHAKABLE DEVOTION

" There’s much to take from this small gem. Litsky’s prose captures the experience of illness and loss from the perspective of those who depart and those who are left behind. But, rather than leaving us in a state of grief, The Closing of the Day affirms the beauty of this fragile life, reminds us of the profound power of genuine connection, and urges us to embrace the devastating joy of being human.
I read this in a single, indulgent sitting, unable and unwilling to put it down. The experience was a gift and to the author I say, with all my heart, "thank you.”

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - A POIGNANT TALE OF QUIET, UNSHAKABLE DEVOTION

" This poignant novella unfolds with the same spare elegance and emotional punch that made Love Story unforgettable, tracing the arc of a deep and caring friendship that is inseparable from its fragility. The narrative follows a memorable cast of characters concentrating on two drawn together by chance and held together by a quiet, unshakeable devotion, even as time, circumstance and looming loss intervene. In luminous, understated prose, the author captures the sweetness of ordinary moments, and the fierce tenderness of caring for someone when the future is no longer guaranteed. It’s a small book with a surprisingly deep resonance that lingers long beyond the final chapter."

" The Closing of the Day by Eric Litsky will stay with me for a long time. This heartwarming, coming of age novella brought me tears as well as laughter. It is a quick read. The characters with their quirks and idiosyncrasies were a joy to follow. Incorporating the painting by William Holman Hunt and the Alfred Lord Tennyson poem – both entitled The Lady of Shallot – was a wonderful addition to the book, offering a parallel story line of friendship, loss, love and personal growth "

" The Closing of the Day is a fantastic story, superbly written. The characters are so real you'd swear you knew them. Eric Litsky takes a giant leap forward with his first novella. As much as I laughed at his previous 3 books filled with stories of his life, this novella takes him to a new level. The story is warm, tender, and totally engrossing. I recommend it to everyone. "This book was so much fun to read. It is full of funny, relatable and interesting stories. I found myself pausing after each story, thinking about how I share so many of the author's experiences. His quirky humor and ability to spin a good yarn left me flooded with happy memories from my own life.
If you're looking for a book to take you away from the reality of today's world, then I highly recommend "Pickles and Milhous Fly Again," it is definitely a fun ride.
Five stars and two thumbs up!!"

"I have read all three of Eric's books. The stories of his childhood, teenage hood and adulthood meld into a wonderful read.
Looking forward to Eric's continued past life's adventures!
PS:  Just got stuck on the "Belt" for 4 hours this weekend on our way out to Long Island!"

At the end of each story, I found myself pausing to reflect on similar funny and endearing moments of my own journey. Such a talent for story telling!."

"FRYING PORK CHOPS NAKED"

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Humorous, reflective romp

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐- A Fine Follow-up to "Harry Would Be So Proud"

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐- A Fine Follow-up to "Harry Would Be So Proud"

"Litsky grows as an author in his sophomore book, building on the ideas from his debut. What I loved most about this book is the greater emphasis placed on the importance of stories not just as humorous asides and tangents but using them as a lens through which we can learn about

ourselves. Some of these stories are based off events that maybe lasted only a few moments but, upon reflection, can reveal greater meaning than at first flush. It invites us to look back on our own lives and examine what we may learn from those same chance encounters."

"With this latest collection of life stories from Eric Litsky, while we get additional childhood

recollections, the emphasis now seems to be on adulthood: work, marriage, divorce, children and

aging. These anecdotes are often quite amusing, sometimes poignant and always highly relatable. I

found myself saying to myself over and over -Yep, I've been in that situation or I've done that as if

I were reading my own autobiography."

"Harry Would Be So Proud was a heartwarming book to read. So many of the stories brought a smile to my face and some even brought tears to my eyes. It holds a powerful message about how the small moments in life create immense impact when recounted in hindsight. Something worth treasuring. Highly recommend!!!"

"Eric Litsky's autobiographical account of his childhood and development as a young adult provides an affectionate view into what it means to be part of a mid-Century NY Jewish family in America, whose values transcend time and preserve heritage. It encompasses the escapades of a curious boy-child turned awkward, but tuned-in teenager, and the realization that the world actually extends beyond the Boroughs, at a time when America's youth rebelled against the 'Establishment'. "Harry Would Be So Proud should be read slowly and savored. Given time for reflection.
These stories capture a time in history and the life of family not unlike many others, but also exceptionally special in its own way. You can't help but be carried by Litsky's masterful storytelling and narrative voice, his self-deprecating humor and actualized optimism."

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - A Cultural Touchstone

" As a contemporary also growing up in Queens with a similar background, it was very easy to relate to the many stories about his relatives. But everyone will find those stories appealing as they transcend all generations and ethnicities due to their universality. It is, however, the stories centered on Eric Litsky's own interesting experiences that show how a young gawky boy grew up to be an extraordinary self-confident husband, father and MENSCH."
